What will happen at Santa’s Pavilion?

Where should I Park if I’m a visitor?

Much of the Riverfront Parking lot, which is off the 100 block of West Front Street on the south side of the River Raisin, is reserved. Maps have been made available so that downtown residents and merchant parking will know where they can park along that block.

The rest is set aside for resident and merchant parking, employee and vendor parking; the parade staging area; large float parking; and parking for the school buses that are transporting band and choir students and cheerleaders.

Everyone who is accessing Riverfront parking lot is asked to use the east entrance, the one just west of S. Monroe Street, to enter, so that they can check in and be directed to the appropriate spot.

The parking lot at the Monroe Council 1266, Knights of Columbus, will be open for permit parking only today.

Other downtown public parking lots will be open and available to visitors, including St. Mary’s Park, which is on the north side of the River Raisin and accessible from West Elm Ave. The Martin Luther King Jr. pedestrian bridge connects St. Mary’s Park to Riverfront Parking Lot; visitors also can cross at the Monroe Street bridge.

What time are streets closed?

The streets in the area of East First and Washington streets at Loranger Square will be closed starting at 9 a.m. to allow for Winter Wonderland activity setups. Barricades will be set up at the nearby alleys to prevent traffic from entering the square.

East Front Street along the parade route will have parking restrictions starting at 3 p.m.; and the street itself on the route will be closed at 5 p.m.

Monroe Street (M-125) will be closed from West Elm Ave. to East Third Street starting at 5:45 p.m

After the parade concludes, which is expected to be about 7 p.m., the barricades will be removed from the area of Front and Monroe streets. The streets in the area of Loranger Square will remain closed until about 9 p.m.

Where should i park if i’m a vendor?

There is one designated area for all vendors located at the large municipal lots facing the Raisin River.  It is designated with GREEN on the staging & parking map. In general, you will need to park outside of the footprint of the street closures and controlled areas.

I am a merchant or I am planning to visit a merchant on the Parade route, how long and where can I park or access these businesses?

The Riverfront Parking Lot will be open on the East end only on Saturday. The rest will be closed to stage the parade. East First and Washington Streets will be closed beginning Saturday at 9:00 a.m.  East Front will be OPEN until 5:00 p.m. There will be signs indicating that No Parking will begin at 3:00 p.m. They are aware of the businesses being open and will not prohibit parking until 3:00 p.m.
